Browsing and Connecting to Math Printers

Windows:

Printers are browsable to Windows machines by going to the "Run..." command and typing in:
\\riceprint.rice.edu

If your computer is not on ADRICE, it will ask for your credentials. It will be your Rice netid and netid password:
Username: ADRICE\<netid>
Password: <netid password>
*check "save password"

Once your are in, you can double click on any of the printers on the list to add them to your computer.

All official Math departmental queues have the following naming scheme:
MATH-HB-<room number>

Mac and Linux:

Mac and Linux machines can also glean information about Math printers,
such as the IP/Hostname Address to configure direct LPR printing, by
going on the web to:
http://riceprint.rice.edu

It will ask you to enter your credentials. It will be your Rice
netid and netid password:
Username: <netid>
Password: <netid password>

Once there, you will be presented with 10 printers at a time starting
alphabetically. You can click on the "Next 10 Printers" link until you reach the Math printers which all have the naming scheme:
MATH-HB-<room number>

The queue listing contains the IP/Hostname and printer model information.

You may also use the following link to view all available printer queues in one single page:
https://riceprint.ad.rice.edu/printers/ipp_0001.asp?startid=01&endid=700

Notes:

Due to legacy work, there will be some similar printer queues with the
word "math" in their name. They may do the exact thing as the new queues, but due to their current names, it may not be obvious as to where they print (which is why the new queues were created).

These legacy queues cannot be removed because they would break existing clients who are connected to them. As time passes, when IT visits machines, we will make sure to switch users over to the new MATH-HB-<room number> queues.
