Application Procedure

Rice University is interested in students with a high level of mathematical ability who wish to become research mathematicians. The application fee is $25 for American citizens and permanent residents. If using the on-line application, applicants in these categories should send $25 directly to the Mathematics Department and then fill out the "request for fee waiver" section. Your application will not be processed until the $25 fee is received by the Mathematics office. The application fee is $40 for all others (no fee waivers will be granted).

A complete application includes the application form, transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, the results of the Graduate Record Examination (general), taken within the last three years and three letters of recommendation from faculty who are familiar with the applicant. The GRE Mathematics Subject exam is recommended but not required. Those students for whom English is a second language should also have submitted the scores of the Test of English as a Second Language (TOEFL). The deadline for completed applications is February 1, 2008.
