Semiclassical scattering and applications

I will illustrate various aspects of semiclassical scattering using 2D numerical simulations and relate them to recent mathematical and experimental results. In particular I will describe fractal Weyl laws obtained with Sjoestrand and Nonnenmacher and some hyperbolic resolvent estimates obtained by Dyatlov and in joint work with Nonnenmacher. Applications will involve black holes and Anosov dynamical systems. Despite the diversity of settings the common underlying themes will be highlighted.
