In Spring 2003, the departments of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computational and Applied Mathematics received the award of a Vertical InteGration of Research and Education (VIGRE) grant from the National Science Foundation's Division of Mathematical Sciences. This grant is expected to generate a wide variety of activities in and amongst the three departments (and other Natural Science and Engineering).
