This will be an expository talk, containing more topology than algebraic geometry. I'll start by discussing the connection between covering spaces and sets with an action of the fundamental group. Then I'll upgrade this by discussing local systems and give an example in algebraic geometry. Finally I'll discuss in length an example from topology, using the Serre spectral sequence. This talk is meant to be very basic, grownups are not encouraged to attend.
