Where do teachers go to find curricular materials on the Web for mathematics and science? How are they collaborating using the Internet? How do we get girls interested in computers the way that boys are? This presentation will answer your questions as we explore math and science lessons and resources on the World Wide Web.We will describe GirlTECH '98, a program of the Center for Research on Parallel Computation (CRPC) that incorporates the Internet as a teaching and learning tool. Ten Tips for Getting Girls Interested in Computers will be shared. Special emphasis will be given to creating lesson plans that use Internet materials as resources to teach mathematics and science concepts in new and exciting ways.
These materials were developed through GirlTECH, a teacher training and student technology council program sponsored by the Center for Research on Parallel Computation (CRPC), a National Science Foundation Science and Technology Center Thanks to the RGK Foundation for its generous support of GirlTECH.
