-01/15. I thought that some additional examples regarding composition of functions would be valuable.

-01/18. After class on Friday, I was asked: if I got a question wrong on my homework, how can I find out the correct answer? A: After the due date, I’ve set up WebAssign to show the solutions to your homework assignments! In addition, a “practice” button should appear next to the questions, so that if you are having trouble with a certain type of problem, you have an opportunity to hone your skills.

-02/01. It’s already February! I know that this document is a lot to read, (it took me a lot of time to type it up!) but I promise that if you take out a pencil and some paper and work through the examples and understand every step, your limit-finding skills will improve! I also gave some suggestions for extra practice problems - try them! Also, on Webassign: if the limit does not exist, write DNE, not NONE.

-02/04. We’ll be finishing up Chapter 2 on Friday (possibly Monday, if I’m slow). I’ll be assigning a review writtenhw2 on Monday, due 02/10. The first half of the document is an outline of the most important definitions and theorems. Being able to write the correct definition or state the hypotheses and results of an applicable theorem on an exam will give you at least a few points, even if you can’t solve the problem. So: make flashcards or study guides!

-02/06. The first exam is fast approaching. It will cover Chapter 1 - Chapter 3.3, excluding sections 1.4 and 2.4. To study, I suggest taking each of sample exam 1, sample exam 2, and sample exam 3 in exam-like settings (quiet, no notes, and a 2-hour time limit) and then checking your answers. Also, go over your chapter reviews.

-02/14. The first exam is tomorrow, 02/15 in SS 106 7-9 pm. You should arrive a few minutes early, because we will begin promptly. There are no calculators nor “cheat sheets” allowed. Make sure you get plenty of rest tonight!

Your task is to think up and solve two problems based on material in sections 3.3-3.11. I will be choosing one or two problems that are submitted to actually be on the exam. This is NOT an optional assignment, but if your problem is picked to be on the test, you’ll get a bonus point on your test!

3.a guide to the final exam. Some good ways to study for the final include: retake your old exams, in an exam-like setting (i.e., quiet, 2 hours, without looking at notes/book/ or using a calculator). If you need clean copies of old exams, I’m happy to provide them. Or, using the guide, make up your own exam by picking problems from the chapter reviews, and take them. I’m more than happy to go over your mock exams, if you’d like.
