Hi! Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I grew up in Newtown Square, a suburb of Philadelphia, PA. In 1986, I received a B.A. in math/physics from Immaculata College. Upon graduating, I began working as systems engineer/aerospace engineer for General Electric in Valley Forge, PA. While working for GE, I attended Villanova University and received a M.A. in mathematics in 1989. After seven years, I left the "corporate rat race" to pursue a Ph.D. in mathematics education at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.
After receiving my doctorate degree, I worked as an Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Department at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA and at the University of Arizona. I am now working as the Associate Director for Curriculum Integration at the Rice University School Mathematics Project.
I am the author of Numeracy and Literacy: Teaching K-8 Mathematics Using Children's Literature (ADP Productions, 2006).
I am married to Chris DelConte, Director of Athletics at Rice University and have two young daughters, Sienna and Sophia Arabella (and a cat named Kepler).
