The Putnam competition is a fun event for people who enjoy solving interesting math problems. We meet weekly on Wednesdays at 7:00pm on the 4th floor of Herman Brown to solve and discuss problems in an informal atmosphere. Once in a while we also have a more formal lecture.

Wednesday October 10, Alexander Bufetov gives a talk entitled: Shannon's theory of coding

The results are in! Congratulations to Ho Chung Siu and Shuai Ye who both finished in the top 100 out of 3753 competitors.
The team, made up of Andrew Altheimer, Jun Inoue and Kevin Spiro came in 19th out of 516 participating universities and colleges.
Congratulations to everyone. We hope you enjoyed the practices and the challenging problems. See you again next year.
