Rice University
The Summer STEM Institute (SSI) is a six-week virtual summer program for high school students, consisting of three main parts:
  • A research and data science bootcamp: SSI will equip students with the valuable skills to conduct computational research. Students will learn how to apply data science and mathematics to interdisciplinary projects with real-world impact.
  • A Masterclass lecture series: Students will be connected with 30+ highly accomplished speakers from Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and other top institutions—from Forbes 30 under 30 awardees to International Math Olympiad Gold Medalists.
  • A guided research project: Students will also have the opportunity to conduct a research project in STEM fields ranging from mathematics to biology. Students will be matched to a virtual lab and work closely with mentors.

The Rice University Math Circle will meet on selected Sundays from 1:00-3:00 pm this Spring on the Rice University campus in the Brockman Hall for Physics in classroom 101. Directions to our meetings can be found by following the "Directions" link shown above.

Each session will include a lecture on an easy-to-understand math topic followed by some games related to the lecture. To help you understand our math topic even more, we'll finish with some problems or a group project.

Our goal is to share with you why mathematicians find math so interesting and how it is a part of our everyday lives.
