The people of MLI are what make the project a success.
The Leadership Team consists of mathematics and mathematics education professionals from the MLI partners who bring experiences in building collaborative relationships between higher education and the K-12 community.
Mathematics lead teachers from high schools in the Houston ISD and Aldine ISD are developing experience and expertise in providing content and pedagogical support to their mathematics department and will act as change agents responsible for catalyzing reform in mathematics instruction in their schools. Graduate students, working with faculty and post-docs from the Rice University Departments of Computational and Applied Mathematics, Mathematics and Statistics work closely with lead teachers throughout the grant in activities.
The Curriculum Review Committee consists of faculty members from the three Rice University mathematics departments -Computational and Applied Mathematics (CAAM), Mathematics (MATH) and Statistics (STAT). The purpose of the Curriculum Review Committee is to analyze the content of the mathematics curriculum for MLI to insure the mathematical integrity of the what the lead teachers will learn.
