Chaos & Life

Program in Mathematics for Young Women

(entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade)

About Us

Continuing our commitment to recruit and retain females in the field of mathematics, the Rice University Mathematics department will sponsor a semester-long "Chaos & Life" seminar for female high school students. Through interaction with women working in mathematics and collaboration with peers, we hope to introduce mathematical research as something exciting, fun, and related to problems in the real world.

Professor Damjanovic received her PhD degree from Pennsylvania State University and has been a member of the Mathematics department since 2009. This year she was awarded a prestigious NSF CAREER grant. In addition to funding her continued research in dynamical systems, the grant includes funding for the "Chaos & Life" seminar and workshop. The seminar and workshop are supported by National Science Foundation Career grant DMS-1150210.
